Browsing Alphabetically

With a print encyclopedia, you can pick up the "B" volume and flip through pages to find a baboon article. On the way, you often discover new knowledge; for example, what's a babirusa? It's possible to browse Britannica 2003 encyclopedia articles in a similar fashion.

To browse the article titles:

  1. Choose a Library at the top of the control panel.

  2. If necessary, click the arrow next to Browse to open this portion of the Control Panel.

  3. Click a letter (A-Z) to view titles of articles beginning with that letter.

To find a title faster, type a word or the beginning letters of a word in the entry box and click Go.

For example, type rose and click Go to display all titles beginning with the word rose (including Rose Bowl and Rose, Billy).

  4. Click the Previous and Next buttons to continue browsing alphabetically. It's possible to walk through the entire encyclopedia!

  5. Click any title to view the information in a right-hand Workspace window.
